T-Mobile parantaa kuuluvuuttaan SpaceX:n avulla
SpaceX ja Yhdysvaltalainen teleoperaattori T-Mobile ovat kertoneet uudesta yhteistyöstä, jonka pohjalta T-Mobilen asiakkaat pystyvät käyttämään SpaceX:n satelliitti-internettiä katvealueilla, missä normaaleilla mobiiliverkoilla on huono kuuluvuus. Wall Street Journalilta (WSJ):
SpaceX and T-Mobile US Inc. said they plan to work together to use the rocket company’s satellites to provide connections to T-Mobile cellphones across the U.S., even in remote areas with no current wireless service.
The companies said Thursday that the new service will use Starlink satellites that SpaceX plans to launch and provide connections to U.S. consumers using wireless spectrum controlled by T-Mobile. The companies said they plan to start with a test of text-messaging services in select markets before the end of 2023.
The goal of the partnership is to provide voice and data services anywhere, regardless of cell towers, allowing areas not yet reached by wireless networks to get service. That would include places where cellular signals can’t reach, such as the middle of a national park or a large body of water.
Sony nostaa PS5 hintaa 10 %
Elektroniikkajätti Sony on kertonut nostavansa PlayStation 5 -pelikonsolin hintaa n. 10 %:lla. Uusi hinta tulee voimaan välittömästi. Sony syyttää kallistumisesta inflaatiota ja yhtiölle epäsuotuisia valuuttakursseja. PlayStation 5 maksaa nyt siis Suomessa 550 €. Sonyltä:

Heroku poistaa ilmaisversiot palveluistaan
Ja mainitaan vielä, että Salesforcen omistama pilvipalvelu Heroku kertoi eilen lopettavansa ilmaisversiot palveluistaan.
Herokun mukaan yhtiön tuote- ja turvallisuustiimit käyttävät suhteettoman paljon resursseja ilmaisena tarjottujen palveluiden turvaamiseen, joten yhtiö haluaa poistaa ne. Näihin lukeutuu mm. Herokun tarjoama ilmainen hallinnoitu Postgres-tietokanta ja Herokun tarjoamat sovellusresurssit joita yhtiö kutsuu Dynoiksi.
Our product, engineering, and security teams are spending an extraordinary amount of effort to manage fraud and abuse of the Heroku free product plans. In order to focus our resources on delivering mission-critical capabilities for customers, we will be phasing out our free plan for Heroku Dynos, free plan for Heroku Postgres, and free plan for Heroku Data for Redis®, as well as deleting inactive accounts.
Starting October 26, 2022, we will begin deleting inactive accounts and associated storage for accounts that have been inactive for over a year. Starting November 28, 2022, we plan to stop offering free product plans and plan to start shutting down free dynos and data services. We will be sending out a series of email communications to affected users.
We will continue to provide low-cost solutions for compute and data resources: Heroku Dynos starts at $7/month, Heroku Data for Redis® starts at $15/month, Heroku Postgres starts at $9/month. These include all the features of the free plans with additional certificate management and the assurance your dynos do not sleep to help ensure your apps are responsive.
