Stripe osti stablecoinyhtiö Bridgen
Maksupalvelu Stripe kertoi eilen ostavansa stablecoin-alusta Bridgen noin 1,1 miljardilla dollarilla. Yhtiön toimitusjohtaja kutsui stablecoineja “finanssialan huoneenlämpöisiksi suprajohteiksi” kauppaa kommentoivassa julkaisussaan X:ssä.
Bridgen takana on kryptoyhtiö Coinbasen entisiä työntekijöitä, ja itse tuote helpottaa Stablecoinien säilyttämistä, lähettämistä ja vastaanottamista. Yhtiön asiakkaisiin kuuluu mm. SpaceX. Bloombergilta:
Stripe Inc. co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Collison confirmed in a X post on Monday that the payments company plans to buy stablecoin startup Bridge.
The deal, first reported by Bloomberg News on Oct. 16, is still subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions. The parties expect to close in coming months, according to a separate post from Bridge’s X account. Stripe will pay $1.1 billion, Forbes reported. A spokesperson for Stripe declined to comment on a purchase amount.
“Stablecoins are room-temperature superconductors for financial services,” Collison wrote on X. “Thanks to stablecoins, businesses around the world will benefit from significant speed, coverage, and cost improvements in the coming years. Stripe is going to build the world’s best stablecoin infrastructure.”
Meta testailee kasvojentunnistusta huijausten tunnistamiseen
Meta on kertonut testaavansa uusia kasvontunnistusmenetelmiä niin sanottujen “celeb-bait” huijausmainosten tunnistamisessa, joissa käytetään julkisuuden henkilöiden kasvoja houkuttelemaan käyttäjiä huijaussivustoille tämän henkilökohtaisten tietojen tai rahojen anastamiseen.
Meta kertoo vertaavansa mainoksissa esiintyviä julkisuuden henkilöiden kuvia näiden Instagram tai Facebook -tilien profiilikuviin ja estää mainokset jos yhtiö toteaa ne huijauksiksi. Yhtiö kertoo myös testaavansa videoselfieiden käyttöä tiliensä palauttamiseen, jolloin käyttäjät voivat ottaa videokuvaa kasvoistaan vahvistaakseen henkilöllisyytensä. Metalta:
Scammers often try to use images of public figures, such as content creators or celebrities, to bait people into engaging with ads that lead to scam websites, where they are asked to share personal information or send money. This scheme, commonly called “celeb-bait,” violates our policies and is bad for people that use our products.
Of course, celebrities are featured in many legitimate ads. But because celeb-bait ads are designed to look real, they’re not always easy to detect. Our ad review system relies primarily on automated technology to review the millions of ads that are run across Meta platforms every day. We use machine learning classifiers to review every ad that runs on our platforms for violations of our ad policies, including scams. This automated process includes analysis of the different components of an ad, such as the text, image or video.
Now, we’re testing a new way of detecting celeb-bait scams. If our systems suspect that an ad may be a scam that contains the image of a public figure at risk for celeb-bait, we will try to use facial recognition technology to compare faces in the ad to the public figure’s Facebook and Instagram profile pictures. If we confirm a match and determine the ad is a scam, we’ll block it. We immediately delete any facial data generated from ads for this one-time comparison, regardless of whether our system finds a match, and we don’t use it for any other purpose.

SAP SE’s cloud revenue grew by 25% in the third quarter as Europe’s biggest software company worked to transition customers away from locally run systems with the promise of artificial-intelligence tools and analytics.
Cloud revenue rose from a year earlier to €4.35 billion ($4.7 billion), the Walldorf, Germany-based company said in a statement on Monday, roughly in line with analysts’ estimates. The firm’s cloud backlog, which reflects sales that will be booked over the next twelve months, gained 25% to €15.4 billion.
SAP has prospered even as Germany’s economy stalls, with gross domestic product forecast to contract for a consecutive second year in 2024. The software company’s customers are shifting to the cloud, where the company has been beefing up its offerings of AI services for enterprise users. Cloud business promises higher average spending per client than SAP’s legacy on-premise software.
