SoftBank hidastaa sijoitustahtiaan
Maailman suurimman teknologiainvestoijan, SoftBankin, perustaja ja toimitusjohtaja Masayoshi Son on ohjeistanut yrityksen muuta johtoa hidastamaan yrityksen sijoitusvauhtia. Softbankin omistukset ovat viime kuukausien aikana menettäneet arvostaan 20 - 30 miljardia dollaria.

The Japanese billionaire made the remarks to his leadership team at a recent meeting, according to people briefed on the discussions, as the group responds to the massive hit to the value of its holdings in recent months.

Rising interest rates and the war in Ukraine have ravaged its holdings and the plummeting value of its China investments served as a stark reminder of how Son’s personal fortunes have become entwined with the company he founded — and its $100bn fund beholden to the global appetite for tech risk.
The estimated writedown at the Japanese group for this quarter stood at $30bn, although a recent uptick in some shares meant it was now closer to around $20bn, the people said.“Valuations for Chinese companies listed overseas have collapsed,” said one person close to SoftBank’s China team. “We don’t expect a turnround anytime soon.”
Docker kertoi uudesta rahoituskierroksesta

The new Series C funding acknowledges Docker’s turnaround progress since its recapitalization and restructuring in November 2019, according to Docker CEO Scott Johnston. That’s when Docker ditched its enterprise software strategy with the sale of its Docker Enterprise platform business to Mirantis and refocused its product and marketing strategy on its developer roots.
The company, which marked its ninth year this month, has retrained its efforts on making application development easier for software developers with tools and services including Docker Desktop, software that helps developers build and share containerized applications and microservices, and the Docker Hub container image repository.
E3 peruuntui
Mainitaan vielä, että perinteinen videopelitapahtuma E3 on peruttu tältä vuodelta. Asiasta kertoi USA:n videopelialan eturjärjestö ESA. E3 peruttiin myös vuonna 2020, mutta viime vuonna tapahtuma järjestettiin virtuaalisena, mitä ei päätetty jatkaa enää tänä vuonna. IGN:ltä:
After previously canceling its in-person E3 2022 event, the ESA has now informed its partners that there will be no digital event equivalent this year either - meaning E3 2022 has fully been canceled.
The news broke via a tweet from Razer PR lead Will Powers, who said that an email had been sent out announcing the cancellation of a digital E3 event. IGN has independently verified the contents of the email as well.
The ESA had initially planned for an in-person E3 event this year after having no event in 2020 due to COVID-19 and a digital one in 2021. However, this was canceled in January, with the ESA at the time unable to make a public statement on whether or not there would be a digital equivalent. According to sources speaking to IGN at the time, discussions around E3 had been fraught throughout the year, with third parties normally involved finding the ESA's ongoing silence regarding their plans frustrating.
